“PROTECT NATURE FOR THE FUTURE.“
The UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted at the UN Summit in 2015 is the global framework for sustainable development. This Agenda sets 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The goals are chosen to balance all three pillars of sustainable development: economic, social, and environmental. It is the environmental aspect of the SDGs that will be the common theme of the upcoming Prague Post-Congress Get-Together workshop with a title “Environmental SDGs“.
The purpose of the proposed workshop is to support and strengthen information sharing and to facilitate cooperation between SAIs. The focus is on the audits that execute duties and perform tasks of individual states resulting from the environmental SDGs. Likewise, the environmental impact of the SAIs' audit activities in the context of the whole of Europe will be emphasized. The workshop will focus on the ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECTS OF SDGS, linked to selected SAIs´ final reports, in particular in these areas:
Each country approaches to the SDGs according to its own national priorities. The responsibility of the individual countries is therefore setting national priorities and ambitions for the fulfilment of the individual sub-goals. Audits of preparedness for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda are one of the first contributions of SAIs to the implementation of SDGs, follow-up and review. The next step is to focus audits on specific environmental SDGs.
